Our history
Ortital was founded in 2022 but its roots lie in a tradition spanning over 90 years in the international fruit and vegetable trade.
Today, as yesterday, our mission is simple: to offer quality, reliability and a service that makes a difference.
Where it all began
The photo on the left is the old refrigerated station specializing in fruit and vegetables in Verona, where in 1935 Ilario Merci had the intuition to undertake commercial relations in the fruit and vegetable sector with the Munich market via rail.​
The Italian market opens up
After the war, relations with Germany were difficult to maintain and so Fulvio (Ilario's son) began to strengthen commercial relations with the largest Italian markets of the time: Verona, Cremona, Parma and Bergamo.
The company specializes in the export of local products such as peaches, persimmons, pomegranates, and apples.
Resumption of relations with the Monaco market
In 1975, the F.lli Merci company was founded by Carlo and Massimo Merci, sons of Fulvio.
Relations with markets throughout Northern Italy are intensifying and historic ties with the German market are being "renewed."
The birth of ORTITAL
In 2022 Ortital was born, a company specializing in B2B fruit and vegetable trade.
We are present throughout the European market and look to the future with an ambitious expansion project towards extra European markets.
